G-Drama: GOODBYE JUNE (2025)
The drama that starts with a G was GOODBYE JUNE (2025) directed by Kate Winslet. Many big stars in this movie. And shoutout to all the child actors: very talented kids, all of them! Particularly the 5 and under. Shoutout to the casting department!
my favorite shot
I picked that movie because I assumed it was about saying goodbye to my birth month (after all we've just left my favorite season to enter my least favorite one, which is something to grieve). But nah-ah, it's actually the story of an old woman with cancer named June (Helen Mirren), who spends her last days in palliative care surrounded by her family. And we get to see how each family member deals with that and how the anticipatory grief affects their interpersonal relationships. Nothing very innovative here, classic deathbed / family reunion drama.
What a nice surprise to finally see the actor who was offscreen in most of his scenes. He appears at the very end and he turns out to be... I'm not telling you!
Ray Charles and Gregory Porter for the soundtrack? Good job!
I didn't care much for the christian propaganda. But that movie gave me warm memories of the nurse staff taking care of me whenever i was hospitalized. Shoutout to them.
This is the movie where I learned how to pronounce "cleanse" what the actual fuck.
Up next: a queer romance that starts with H, a boring romance that starts with I, a biopic that starts with a J
