The Roncesvalles Quiet Book Club #1

The Roncesvalles Silent Book Club #1: it's a wrap!

I will remember your lovely faces, the books you brought, Pride, Prejudice & Other Flavours on Kindle and its French/Indian food, Les Misérables in English and its "monsieur" in French, Black Cherokee my neighbor-friend is reading for the Roncesvalles "noisy" bookclub, the two writers who showed up with their manuscripts, the novel in Korean, the book brought from Iceland, the novel about the Swedish version of residential schools…

I'll remember Lisa from SAVA Crêpes & Coffee taking care of us, how not to hold a frame if you don't want it to break, my almond croissant...

I'll even remember the 3 (4? Oh, looks like i forgot already) little girls who had to go, and their adult who has a space High Park north, I'll also remember the written encouragements of those who couldn't make it...

I will cherish the memory of this time on Earth together!

My favorite quotes of the session (from the book I was reading, MISFIT by Gary Gulman):

  • "For people with nothing, we had a lot of stuff.",

  • "Two weeks is a lifetime at seven."

  • "If the hour hand at school was lead, in my house it was a pinwheel." (I learned the word 'pinwheel' that made me laugh before I even knew what it meant)

  • "It's a quote from the novelist Michael Chabon: 'Nothing, not even unbearable sorrow, lasts forever.'" (This guy quotes so many books, I've finished reading the books I've heard of from this book, before I finished this book!)

Hey. Thank you. And see you next Tuesday! #FunnyBrainyRoncy
